DOOM is yet another installment in a long range of Doom games. Also known as Doom 4, this part unique because it is a soft reboot. The story of DOOM takes the player on Mars, where the soldiers of Hell attack a facility.
Once again, The Doom Slayer appears in a sarcophagus that’s also his prison cell. He breaks out of it and runs away from the UAC facility, grabbing his battle suit along the way. Soon enough, he discovers that Dr. Olivia allowed the forces from Hell to come to Mars and attack.
Even though DOOM is similar to Doom 3 at first glance, the gameplay is very different. The game is really dynamic, and there is a lot of running, jumping, and climbing. Player’s character is faster than most of the monsters within the game, making movement a primary part of both attack and defense.
In this part, the player can even go out to the surface of the planet where the gravity comes into play and adds an interesting mechanic. A lot of old features have been reintroduced to give players the feeling of playing the classic Doom game.
An exciting new element is the “Karate System,” as players can now fight monsters in a melee battle. This part also comes with weapon mods and Glory Kills. The game has a single-player mode, but it also has several multiplayer game modes, including Clan Arena, Deathmatch, Domination, Freeze Tag, Warpath, Soul Harvest, and Infernal Run.
