This add-on provides users with a simple way to restore the default settings within their Firefox browsers. Before restoring the default settings, it backs them up. Then, it restores the default settings for your homepage, your search bar, and URL bar searches. The latest version also restores the settings for new tabs that are opened. Once the restoration of these settings is complete, the add-on uninstalls itself.
It is recommended that users audit all of their add-ons to ensure that the original settings are restored because other add-ons may have modified or continue to modify the browser’s default settings. Note that it is impossible to undo the changes en masse once they are made, but it is possible to find the settings that you had prior to using the add-on by searching for “searchreset.backup” through the use of about:config. If you would like to access the code for this add-on, you can do so at https://github.com/gavinsharp/SearchReset.
